From B. Dolan:
"In July, ICE Agents where I live snatched someone at a Providence RI courthouse, where they were scheduled to defend themselves from a wrongful arrest after calling the police in a domestic violence situation.
That was the specific event that caused me to make time to show up in my workweek, instead of feeling fucked up in isolation and watching this ICE atrocity on my feed.
I joined the local Defense Line here. For 6 months I've been part of a WhatsApp community with thousands of other people all over the state, who voluntarily do what Renee Good was doing when she was murdered, because their hearts called them to protect their neighbors.
At the scene of ICE raids I have watched kids turned out of their houses, neighborhoods terrorized and people in grief for what their home has become. It's been impossibly infuriating and fucking heartbreaking, long before the events of last week. I started writing this song a little while ago. In the spirit of John Brown and Hanoi Hannah.
I've joined the AMOR Network as a volunteer. This year they'll be working on and providing the following to Immigrant communities where I live:
* Community defense line
* ICE out of courthouses; Virtual Court options now
* Mutual aid for families facing deportation / destabilized due to deportation.
* Pushing for legislation to stop the Wyatt Detention Center, a private owned prison, from accepting Federal ICE contracts.
I urge you to realize that marching in protest is no longer enough.
The planet and it's people are dying of capitalist imperialist white supremacist patriarchy.
Join an organization that works against those things and is allied with other organizations who do the same.
Learn about mutual aid and why it's different than charity.
Take care of yourself and others. Do not be terrorized or give up your rights without a fight. You will not be able to stay home. Stay on the battlefield."
